Introduction of Food Grade Organic Tapioca Starch Powder

Tapioca Starch Powder is a powder obtained by dehydrating and drying tapioca after starch extraction. It can be divided into two categories: original starch and various modified starch, which are widely used in the food industry and non food industry. Modified starch can be customized according to specific user requirements to be suitable for special purposes.

Physical introduction
No odor:Organic Tapioca Starch Powder has no odor and is suitable for products that require precise odor adjustment, such as food and cosmetics.
Mild taste: Tapioca Starch has no taste or aftertaste (such as corn), making it more suitable than regular starch for products that require precise flavor adjustments, such as pudding, cake, and pastry fillings.
Clear paste: The paste formed by boiling Tapioca Starch is clear and transparent, suitable for coloring with pigments. This characteristic is also important for the sizing of Tapioca Starch for high-end paper.
Stickiness: Due to the high ratio of branched starch to linear starch in tapioca raw starch, which is as high as 80:20, it has a high peak viscosity. This feature is suitable for many purposes. Meanwhile, Tapioca starch can also be modified to eliminate stickiness and create loose structures, which is quite important in many food processing.
High freeze-thaw stability: Tapioca starch paste exhibits relatively low reversibility, thus preventing water loss during the freeze-thaw cycle. This feature can be further enhanced through modification.

Application

Food

Tapioca Starch is widely used in food formulations, such as baked goods, as well as in the production of extruded small foods and tapioca granules. Modified starch or starch derivatives have been used as thickeners, binders, puffing agents, and stabilizers, and are also the best enhancers, sweeteners, seasoning carriers, and fat substitutes. Foods that use Thai Tapioca Starch include canned foods, frozen foods, dry blends, baked goods, snacks, seasonings, soups, sausages, dairy products, meat and fish products, and baby food.

Beverage
Modified starch is used as a colloidal stabilizer in beverages containing solid components. In beverages, Tapioca Starch sweeteners are superior to sucrose because the former improves the processing process and strengthens product characteristics. When combined with other sweeteners, it can fully meet consumer needs. The high hydrolysis degree syrup formed by the hydrolysis of organic tapioca starch powder is an ideal source of fermentable sugars in beer brewing.
Candy
Tapioca original starch and various modified starch have many uses in candy production, such as gelling, thickening, stabilizing systems, enhancing foaming, controlling crystallization, bonding, film-forming, and adding luster. Low viscosity tapioca starch is widely used in gelatinized candies, such as jelly and chewing gum. The most commonly used is acid hydrolyzed starch, as it has excellent reversibility and gelling ability, which are more pronounced when encountering sugars. Dry starch is used as a release agent in candy making. Starch based polysaccharides have enabled the production of sugar free chewing gum.
Chemical industry
Tapioca starch powder based syrup can be produced at a low cost through acid or enzymatic processes, and can be used as raw materials to produce various chemicals such as sodium glutamate, amino acids, organic acids, ethanol, ketones, vitamins, and antibiotics.
Adhesives
Tapioca starch dextrin is an excellent adhesive with a wide range of uses, including corrugated cardboard, paper bags, plywood, adhesive paper, adhesive tape, labels, stamps, and envelopes.
Papermaking
The application of modified starch in the papermaking industry can improve paper quality, increase productivity, and increase pulp utilization. Cationic starch is used to coagulate pulp and improve wet end dewatering efficiency. And it results in higher paper machine speeds and higher pulp utilization. The starch retained on the finished paper as an internal sizing agent . It can increase the strength of the paper. Low viscosity starch, such as oxidized starch, can be used as a surface sizing agent to increase paper strength. And it can improve ink absorption during printing and writing. Modified starch is also used as an adhesive in pigment coatings to produce smooth and white high-end paper.
Textile
In the textile industry, organic tapioca starch powder is often used as a sizing agent to harden and protect yarns in order to improve textile efficiency. It also can use as a finishing agent to produce fabrics with a smooth texture. Meanwhile, it can  use as a color enhancer to obtain clear and wear-resistant printed fabrics. For textile applications, using lightly cooked starch is more ideal.
Drugs and cosmetics
Tapioca original starch and modified starch can be used as binders, enhancers, and disintegrants in tablet production. Specially modified starch can be used as a carrier for moisturizers. It usually be mineral oil-based substances.  Other modified starch can be used as emulsifiers, capsule sealants (vitamins), styling agents (hair mousse), and thickeners (shampoo), etc.
Biodegradable materials
Tapioca raw starch powder and modified starch can be mixed with petroleum based or artificially synthesized polymer materials. It can improve their biodegradability. Thereby minimizing the production cost of these environmentally friendly materials.
